Defining the Problem, Providing a Solution

Defining the Problem, Providing a Solution

Growing up, I always enjoyed playing those games where you had to spot what was wrong with one picture when you compared it to another. I remember how you had to look at every detail to find those 17 difference. Examining the person’s hair, facial expression, clothing or the room’s furniture, cabinet handles and other minute details…it required work!

Looking at what’s wrong with the world today is not so far hard. It seems that every person has a different reason for why America is where it is at today. From greedy banks to corrupt CEO’s or malicious politicians and philanderers, there is always someone to point the finger at.

But what does that accomplish? Sure, the banks were greedy, but did throwing more money at them solve our problems? Yes, many politicians are corrupt and tear down the integrity of this nation. But what can be done about that NOW? Shouldn’t there be something we can do? You and me, the average American, how can I respond to this problem?

I see it. I know it’s real. I am looking at what should be and I see what those 17 differences are. How can I get the pictures to align? What can be done?

Well, I think this video below is the best commentary on where America has gone astray. Usually Glen Beck is a bit too fanatical for me, but I was blown away when I watched this video and I fully agree with his views.

After watching that, it’s hard to respond. I do believe there is a solution though.

2 Chronicles 7:14 [The Message Translation]

“If I ever shut off the supply of rain from the skies or order the locusts to eat the crops or send a plague on my people, and my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health. From now on I’m alert day and night to the prayers offered at this place. Believe me, I’ve chosen and sanctified this Temple that you have built: My Name is stamped on it forever; my eyes are on it and my heart in it always. As for you, if you live in my presence as your father David lived, pure in heart and action, living the life I’ve set out for you, attentively obedient to my guidance and judgments, then I’ll back your kingly rule over Israel—make it a sure thing on a sure foundation. The same covenant guarantee I gave to David your father I’m giving to you, namely, ‘You can count on always having a descendant on Israel’s throne.”

America, how have we arrived at this place? Well, if we humble ourselves, turn from our selfish ways, and seek God, then there is still hope. There is a promise that God will never break.
