Burning for the Goal
What is the goal? Can I see it? Is it my goal? Is it unique to me or is it something bigger than me? Is it an ‘it’ or is it a person? Does God have goals? Time to get out the bible and see what it says Matt 28:18-20, Gen 1:28, Phil 3:14, Eph 3:11, Eph 1:9-10; from these verses it is clear that God does have goals and is using us individually as members of His body, the church, to accomplish these goals. It is also clear that these goals are clearly summed up in the person of Jesus.
If I was to place these goals/ pictures on my refrigerator what would they look like? Would my refrigerator look like anyone else’s? God is one and three. God’s unity and diversity are revealed in this truth. From this we understand beauty. There is nothing in the Trinity that contradicts or works against what they are in unity and there is nothing in their unity that conflicts with their diversity. It would be interesting to see what is on their ‘refrigerator’.
I believe that Satan doesn’t really care all that much about what is on my refrigerator or on your refrigerator; to him doesn’t matter if they are entirely the same or entirely different. What the enemy doesn’t want is for us to understand how my refrigerator and your refrigerator are unified by God’s refrigerator. In other words, how our diversity can be unified within God’s dream of having a family of many sons who reflect the image of His only begotten Son, Jesus.
It is also interesting to note that these goals are not only here and now (spiritually and physically) but also not yet; only to be realized fully in the future when a new heaven and a new earth become one and God’s habitation is among us. At this point I am beginning to see a theme, fully God, fully man; three and one; heaven and earth: Jesus.
